The disappearance of a woman who vanished at the weekend is now being treated as a murder, police say.

Paria Veisi, 37, has not been seen since leaving her place of work in the Canton area of Cardiff at around 3pm on Saturday.

South Wales Police on Wednesday put out a plea for information on the whereabouts of Paria, saying they had arrested two people in connection to her disappearance.

The force have now said they have ‘no proof’ the businesswoman is alive.

A 41-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman arrested earlier in the week are now being held on suspicion of murder. The pair remain in police custody.

Paira was caught on CCTV driving her black Mercedes GLC 220, which was later found just a couple on miles away on Dorchester Avenue, Penylan, on Tuesday evening.

South Wales Police issued an appeal to locate the missing woman on Wednesday night.

The force said her disappearance is totally out of character and officers are concerned for her welfare.

It has also released an image of Paria, who is described as having has long, curly, black hair.

She was last seen wearing a black zip-up gym top over a red top, black trousers, and trainers and carrying a small handbag.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell, said: ‘I can confirm that that the investigation into the disappearance of Paria Veisi is now a murder investigation. I currently have no proof that Paria is alive.

‘Her family and friends are extremely concerned that they have not heard from her which is totally out of character.

‘Paria’s family have been informed and we are keeping them updated.

‘We have two people in custody, and at this stage we are not looking for anybody else in connection with this investigation.

‘Our investigation remains focussed on Paria’s movements after she left work in Canton area on Saturday, April 12.

‘Extensive CCTV and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out by a team of officers and I am appealing for anybody who has information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to make contact.’

The force has asked for any information and video footage such as from mobile phones, CCTV cameras, doorbells or dash-cams to be submitted via this link: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/62SWP25C05-PO1

Anyone with information is also being asked to contact South Wales Police quoting reference 2500116906.
