The Mega Millions prize pot has risen to a whopping $453 million.

No Mega Millions players matched the winning numbers to claim the $420 million jackpot that was previously up for grabs, sending the prize further northward.

The winning numbers drawn on November 19 were 5, 35, 50, 51, and 59, with Mega Ball: 8 and Megaplier: 4.

Although participants did not win the grand prize, two Mega Millions players from Texas and Pennsylvania won $1 million after correctly matching all five white ball numbers.

Lottery officials say that Mega Millions players currently have a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of winning the prize pot.

This latest jackpot comes eight months after a Mega Millions player in New Jersey won an enormous $1.13 billion jackpot.

That prize is the largest someone has ever won in New Jersey, but no Mega Millions players have claimed it.

Lottery fans can purchase a Mega Millions ticket for about $2 in almost all US states and the US Virgin Islands.

The players must then pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers.

For the first pool, players must select five different numbers from 1 to 70, which represent the white balls.

The final number to select is the gold Mega Ball, which can be from one to 25.

Players can also select an East Pick/Quick Pick option, which means a computer will select all six numbers randomly.

The starting jackpot currently varies based on Mega Millions sales and will be announced before each drawing, according to the website.

Besides the jackpot and $1 million prizes, Mega Millions players could win $2, $4, $10, $200, $500, or $10,000, depending on how many winning numbers they select.

If a Mega Millions player spends extra money for a Megaplier, their winnings could be up to five times more than the original number.

The winning numbers for the $453 million cash prize will be drawn on November 21.

If a Mega Millions player wins and claims the jackpot, they can either have it paid out as an annuity over 30 years or a one-time lump-sum payment.

The lump-sum option for the $453 million cash prize is $209.6 million.

The required time limit to claim the grand prize at a lottery headquarters depends on what state the Mega Millions winner is in.

However, the time period for claiming prizes in the US and US Virgin Islands usually ranges from 90 days to one year from the draw date.

If the player with the winning numbers does not claim it by the deadline, money the participating locations contributed to the jackpot will be returned to them.

So far, only three players have won the Mega Millions jackpot this year, according to the website.

The first winner was the unidentified player in Neptune, New Jersey.

The next winner was an anonymous player in Illinois who walked away with a $552 million jackpot.

The most recent Mega Millions winner purchased their Sugar Land, Texas and took home a $810 million cash prize.

That winner selected the cash value option and took home $409,297,624 before taxes – the largest prize ever paid out to a single Texas Lottery player.
