A man has died in Manchester after plunging from a building in the city centre.

Officers were called on Saturday to reports that a man had fallen from the building on Charles Street at around 4pm. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear at what height the man plummeted from, but he is understood to have fallen from a hotel in the city centre, local media reported.

Police confirmed the man’s death is being treated as unexplained, and an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

Pictures show emergency services at the scene, while a blue forensic tent has been put up outside the Maldron hotel.

The road remained closed into the night, with several police vehicles and armed officers pictured at the scene.
