Squad member Rashida Tlaib has sparked outrage for apparently referring to the United States as ‘they’ as she condemned the military attack on Iran.

The congresswoman from Michigan spoke out against the US and Israel‘s strikes on Iran on Saturday, as the United States announced that the country’s supreme leader was killed.

‘Both the US and genocidal Israel doesn’t care about the laws,’ Tlaib posted on X, along with footage of a school that was struck in the attacks.

‘This is who they are,’ she continued.

Many online quickly scrutinized her use of the word ‘they’ in her post, with journalist and former New Yorker writer James Surowiecki responding: ‘You’re a member of Congress. Don’t call the US “they.”‘

Commentary editor John Podhoretz also pointed out that she was part of the US.

‘Or are you just, in the end, a traitor?’ he asked, rhetorically.

Fox News host Guy Benson even went as far as to brand Tlaib a ‘terrorism apologist’ who ‘uncritically parrots regime propaganda (as she often has for Hamas) while referring to he US as “they.”‘

Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib has sparked outrage for her use of the word ‘they’ when condemning the US and Israel’s strike on Iran

She shared footage of a school that was struck during the attack in a post on X Saturday

Tlaib, a representative from Michigan, then claimed that neither the US nor Israel care about international laws

Others went even further, with Jesse Arm, the vice president of external affairs for the conservative Manhattan Institute saying her use of the term ‘they’ is ‘pretty telling.’

‘If you do not see yourself as part of America, how can you serve America?’

Rabbi Poupko, the host of The Jewish World podcast, also pointed out her use of the term ‘they’ and noted that when he passed by her office on Capitol Hill, he saw a Palestinian flag outside.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Palestinian immigrants.

‘Why are American taxpayers funding this???’ he asked.

The popular Libs of TikTok account went as far as to decry that ‘the enemy is already here.’

The post marks the second time in less than a week that the congresswoman has faced backlash, as she previously chanted ‘KKK’ at her Republican colleagues who were supporting President Donald Trump’s remarks at the State of the Union.

Many online were quick to scrutinize Tlaib’s use of the word ‘they’ when referring to the US

President Trump later hit back on his Truth Social platform, calling Tlaib and fellow Squad member Ilhan Omar – who was seen heckling Trump during the State of the Union – ‘LUNATICS.’

When you watch Low IQ Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, as they screamed uncontrollably last night at the very elegant State of the Union, such an important and beautiful event, they had the bulging, bloodshot eyes of crazy people, LUNATICS, mentally deranged and sick who, frankly, look like they should be institutionalized,’ Trump began.

‘When people can behave like that, and knowing that they are Crooked and Corrupt Politicians, so bad for our Country, we should send them back from where they came – as fast as possible,’ he then said.

‘They should actually get on a boat with Trump Deranged Robert De Niro, another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely Low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying – some of which is seriously CRIMINAL!’ Trump blasted.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Tlaib’s office for comment.
