Police have launched a manhunt after a woman was raped in broad daylight by two men at a nature reserve.

The horror assault took place at 8am on Monday in Alcott Woods, off Moorend Avenue in Chelmsley Wood near Solihull.

The victim, who has not been identified, is currently being supported by specially trained officers.

The beauty spot, which is situated just north of Birmingham Airport, has today been cordoned off.

Forensic officers, wearing white overalls and carrying evidence bags, have been seen taking pictures at the area where double rape is alleged to have taken place.

Several police vehicles and a number of uniformed officers are also on the scene guarding the woodland.

It’s understood the attack was reported yesterday, and officers have been at the scene overnight.

West Midlands Police has now launched a manhunt for the two male attackers, as part of a ‘fast-moving’ investigation.

‘It happened at Alcott Woods at around 8am yesterday.

‘We are supporting the woman, and officers have been in the area carrying out searches and other enquiries.

‘The investigation is at a very early stage and anyone with information has been asked to get in touch via Live Chat or 101 quoting log 1844 of 10 February.

‘We have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance.

‘Alternatively, information can be given via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’

The 15-acre beauty spot is described as a ‘natural example of oak woodland with ground flora containing several ancient species including wood anemone, remote sedge and wood sorrel’.

It is a popular area for walkers and nature lovers.
