An ‘obnoxious’ Zillow listing for a $4.9 million Pal Alto, California home has sparked fierce criticism from social media users.

The stunning 2,722-square-foot residence located at 3717 Ortega Court has not drawn attention for its sleek design and spacious backyard – but for the word choice used in its description.

The Zillow listing – which has since been edited – was blasted online for mentioning the prestigious academic background of those who used to live there.

A screengrab posted on Reddit shows what is said to be the original blurb, which read: ‘A legendary home where success is part of its history.

‘Since its 2017 rebuild, every owner’s children have gone on to Harvard or Stanford, paving the way for even greater achievements. Now, it is ready to pass on its extraordinary energy to the next family.’

The Zillow advertisement includes pictures of the house’s living room – where seven diplomas from the competitive universities are neatly displayed.

While whoever wrote this excerpt may have believed this was a clever way to entice potential buyers, Redditors said it gave off a far different impression.

‘I have always found Realtors to be one of the most obnoxious professions,’ one user reacted to the post circulating on a Stanford University Reddit page.

‘Realtor should have rotten tomatoes thrown at them and humiliated. Sh*t like this just feels incredibly grimy and desperate. How vapid, honestly,’ one passionate commenter asserted.

According to Zillow, the Burlingame-based Wen Guo Real Estate Group is handling this listing.

It is unconfirmed who wrote the detailed depiction of the home. DailyMail.com has reached out to the real estate agency for comment.

One user speculated that the educational addition was actually the owner’s idea.

‘Weird flex. Does he think this increases the value of his home? Like will the home take the SAT for my kids?’ they wrote.

‘Wondering if admission is guaranteed,’ said a sarcastic Redditor.

A Stanford student joked: ‘Lol maybe when I try to transfer my current lease so I can move to Stanford in the Fall I should add something to the post about the magic of this room I submitted the application in.’

When reviewed by DailyMail.com, the entire portion about the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home’s ‘extraordinary energy’ was removed on Zillow and Redfin.

The Zillow listing – which has since been altered – was blasted online for mentioning the prestigious academic background of those who used to live there

The realtor who wrote the listing claimed everyone who has lived in the luxurious home since 2017 has gone to either Harvard (pictured) or Stanford

Along the living room mantel, diplomas from Harvard and Stanford (pictured) were displayed

It is unclear what prompted the realtor’s decision to do so.

‘Looks like they’ve already removed the highlighted line,’ someone wrote under the Reddit post. ‘Probably yelled at the realtor.’

The home is now ‘pending,’ meaning the seller has accepted an offer.

‘What a heartwarming story all around,’ a snarky Threads user said about the house being sold – only after writing: ‘Probably the most obnoxious listing I’ve ever seen in Palo Alto. And that’s saying a lot.’

Palo Alto is considered to be a well-off city and is home to tech-moguls including Mark Zuckerberg and Time Cook.

The California enclave has some of the highest property prices in the nation.
