Awkward moment CNN reporter tries to explain Donald Trump’s comments about Arnold Palmer’s manhood

This is the moment a CNN reporter set out on the unenviable task of describing Donald Trump‘s comments about Arnold Palmer’s manhood.

The footage showed political correspondent Steve Contorno attempting to sum up the remarks delivered just moments before, at the former president’s Latrobe, Pennsylvania, rally Saturday.

Trump went on a 12-minute tangent about the late golf great, who died at age 87 in 2016.

The late golfer, often viewed as the best of all time, was born in the Pittsburgh suburb, and Trump, in turn, told the crowd he was well-endowed. As for proof, the Republican – an avid golfer himself – pointed to word from other golfers who shared showers with the local legend.

Reporting from the scene at the MAGA rally, Contorno set out on explaining what he had just heard. He said the speech began ‘rather interestingly,’ while holding back an apparent laugh.

CNN reporter Steve Contorno set out on the unenviable task of describing Donald Trump’s comments about Arnold Palmer’s penis on Saturday, speaking from the politician’s Latrobe, Pennsylvania, rally

The footage shows the political correspondent attempting to sum up the remarks delivered just moments before by the former president

‘[Trump] started with a long-winded story about Latrobe, Pennsylvania native Arnold Palmer,’ the political reporter begins, visibly and audibly addled by the anecdote just offered.

‘[This included] – and I’m not making this up – a description of the Hall of Fame golfer in the men’s room, in the locker room, and what he looked like in the shower.’

Contorno quickly pivots to two other comments offered up by Trump – seemingly eager to move onto another topic.

‘He then went into more conversation about how his hair looked in his combing regiments,’ the journalist said.

‘And then he also accused Joe Biden, a Catholic, of targeting Catholic-Americans.’

Contorno then give way to an array of clips from Trump’s address to do the rest of the talking – choosing not to touch on the subject of Palmer’s pecker again.

The comments surrounding the deceased major winner’s manhood, meanwhile, were somewhat cut-and-dry, and caused the crowd of supporters gathered to let out a series of laughs as they listened in.

Trump, 78, first told them: ‘Arnold Palmer was all man and I say that in all due respect to women, and I love women, but this is a guy that was all man

He continued: ‘When he took showers with the other pros they came out of there, they said, ‘Oh my God. That’s unbelievable.’

Palmer, a golf legend from the suburb where Trump held his rally, passed away at 87 in 2017. He is seen here in one of his Masters jackets at the first round of the important tournament the year before

Former President Donald Trump made a crude reference to Arnold Palmer’s manhood

As the salacious tid-bit evoked a reaction, the ex-commander-in-chief concluded:  ‘I had to say it, I had to say it.’

Trump, meanwhile, did not reveal his sources, at a meet that also saw former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown speak to the crowd.

Since retiring, Brown slammed the ‘crazy’ media’s coverage of the upcoming election, which as of writing remains 15 days away.

The wide receiver went on to mock Kamala Harris’ vice presidential pick, Tim Walz, whom Harris and co. have advertised as the campaign’s coach due to his history as a high school football and basketball coach in Minnesota.

To that, Brown, 36, said, ‘He isn’t a real football coach. He couldn’t guard me.’

He went on to liken his own rise as a sixth-round draft pick to one of the best in the league to Trump’s own unlikely emergence, as he looks to secure a second stint in the Oval Office come next month.

Palmer, meanwhile, passed away just weeks before Trump was elected in 2016, not long after posing for a photo with the political outsider during a round of golf.

However, the late golf icon would later say he found himself ‘appalled’ by the soon-to-be president during his inaugural campaign, according to his family – who told Sporting News in 2018 that he ‘couldn’t believe the crudeness’ of the then nominee.

Palmer, a well-known conservative, regularly played with former president Dwight D. Eisenhower (right) during his heyday

On Sunday, after Trump’s comments had gone viral, a daughter of the conservative golfer came forward to say she was not upset by the remarks.

‘There’s nothing much to say. I’m not really upset,’ Peg Palmer Wears, 68, told The Associated Press.

She, however, went on to add: ‘I think it was a poor choice of approaches to remembering my father, but what are you going to do?’

Asked three times Sunday on CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ about what he thought of Trump’s tangent, House Speaker and Trump ally Mike Johnson did not answer.

‘I’ll address it, let me answer it,’ Johnson told host Jake Tapper, before not issuing a response. ‘Don’t say it again. We don’t have to say it. I get it.’

He then claimed  it was par for the course for Trump to share such wacky stories while on the campaign trail, telling Tapper, ‘When President Trump is at a rally, sometimes he’ll speak for two straight hours.

‘You’re questioning his stamina, his mental acuity? Joe Biden couldn’t do that for five minutes.’

Trump is seen here with Palmer, All My Children star Susan Lucci, and Melania at an event in Manhattan in 2011. Five years later, Trump would reportedly fall out of the golfer’s good graces

‘That’s how you started this segment. You said, ‘What if Biden was in a rally like that?” Johnson further charged.

‘He couldn’t fill the room. Donald Trump does because they see him as a change agent.’

Trump, meanwhile, is now campaigning in Michigan, where Harris is holding rallies as well. The election is 15 days away.
