Look inside the secret wedding venue at the heart of Gavin and Stacey finale

The wedding venue set to host Smithy and Nessa’s nuptials during the Gavin and Stacey finale is an historic Tudor mansion which engaged couples can hire for £8,000.

The BBC sitcom’s stars, including James Corden and Ruth Jones, were spotted at Court Colman Manor Hotel in South Wales this week filming scenes for the beloved comedy’s last ever episode, which will air on Christmas Day.

Plot details have been kept under wraps, but fans will be hoping to finally see plumber Smithy, played by Corden, tie the knot with Nessa (Jones) after the latter proposed during the last Christmas episode in 2019.

The Grade II listed Georgian house dates back to the Tudor times having been built in 1776 and was turned into a hotel in 1981.

Its period features include oak panelled halls, Italian Renaissance fireplaces, a grand ballroom, an elegant Victorian Garden Room and more than six acres of beautiful landscaped gardens.

James, who plays Smithy, was seen on set this week wearing a navy wedding suit, hinting viewers could finally have a happy ending between the Essex plumber and Nessa

And Gavin and Stacey fans could follow in the footsteps of the much loved characters by getting hitched themselves at the same venue, with packages available costing up to £8,000.

The Georgian architecture and Victorian rose walk lends itself to idyllic wedding photos, likewise the venue’s own waterfall.

The top package includes 50 day guests and 100 evening guests where in-house wedding coordinators can help create a ‘Bespoke Wedding Celebration personal to you.’

Lead stars Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, who play Gavin and Stacey Shipman, were spotted arriving in wedding attire, along with Alison Steadman, who is reprising her role as family matriarch Pam Shipman.

Also making a return is actor Steffan Rhodri in his role as Dave ‘Coaches’, Nessa’s former flame, plus Adrian Scarborough and Julia Davies as Pete and Dawn Sutcliffe, close friends of Pam and Mick, played by Larry Lamb.

Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin is a new edition to the cast, but it’s yet to be revealed what part she is playing.

As well as filming the final episode, writers and star James and Ruth Jones have also been recording a behind-the-scenes special to mark the comedy’s final ever outing.

Cameras followed them as they mixed with fans, posing for more than 100 selfies, capturing the interactions between the cast and their adoring public, who began arriving on Barry Island last Monday.

Ruth was spotted wearing her character’s iconic leather studded waistcoat and knee high boots as she shot scenes for the highly anticipated Christmas special

Cast on the show including Joanna Page have shared their happiness over being back together on set, sharing a picture online, which read, ‘Truth be told, we’re a little bit excited’

Loose Woman star Joanna was also seen being trailed by a crew when she greeted fans. Sources on the set say that the footage is to be used to make a documentary about the much loved comedy series, which first launched on BBC Three in 2007.

One said: ‘When the cameras filming Gavin & Stacey stopped, other cameras went on to film the behind-the-scenes action. There was loads of lovely footage for the programme; it has been so special for its viewers.

‘James is astute and realises that there is a wonderful story to be told about the making of it and what goes on behind the scenes.’

Making a speech to fans, James told fans: ‘It’s all overwhelming, the fact that it’s the last time we’ll be here on the island. It’s wonderful. It’s the home of the show. It’s the centre of it really, and every bit of it you’re thinking: ‘God, I remember when we were here.’ ‘

On the first day of filming the cast shared a picture of a clapperboard with the caption: ‘The final episode of Gavin & Stacey started filming today. Truth be told, we’re a little bit excited.’
