Adam Peaty‘s ex-girlfriend has given her blessing to his engagement to Gordon Ramsey’s ‘wonderful’ daughter and says she is a positive presence in their lives.

Eirianedd Munro, 26, went through heartache when she split from the triple Olympic gold medal swimmer after he appeared on TV’s Strictly.

The artist from Wales said her priority was to the couple’s son George, who had his fourth birthday this week.

But after Peaty announced his engagement to Holly Ramsey on Thursday, Eirianedd revealed she was happy for them.

In a statement to MailOnline, she said: ‘I’d like to take the opportunity to say how wonderful Holly is.

‘She is nothing but a positive presence in our lives. She is so gentle and kind, I couldn’t wish for a better stepmother for my son. We’re so glad about the news and are wishing them the best.’

One day earlier, Eiri paid tribute to their son George by sharing a series of sweet snaps to Instagram – with Holly liking the post

Eirianedd, from Newport, South Wales, ended her message with a smiley face.

Family friends have also told the Mail how Ms Ramsay has become the ‘doting stepmother’ to George.

A family insider said: ‘They all love Adam, he and Gordon are extremely close and the family are really supportive of him.’

In April, days after Peaty qualified for his third Olympic Games, Eirianedd said she had ‘forgiven’ him over the break-up and was supporting him in his battle against alcoholism and depression.

She said at the time: ‘I’ve chosen to forgive and move forward – anything other than that does not serve the wellbeing of myself, my son and our family.

‘We continue to love, care and pray for Adam and are wishing him a full recovery.’

The day before Peaty announced his engagement to Ramsey, Eiri paid tribute to their son George by sharing a series of sweet snaps to Instagram – which was liked by Peaty’s fiancée.

She wrote in the caption: ‘Happy birthday to the brightest star in the universe. Four years of the most warm and radiant light. Four years of the most glorious and contagious joy.

‘Four years of the most gentle and chaotic energy. What an honour to know you and to know that I am yours and you are mine.’

Adam also wished their son a happy birthday the day before announcing his engagement to Holly.

His post read: ‘Happy 4th Birthday to my beautiful George. I could never describe in words how much I love you. You are growing so fast and it’s incredible to see you learn, play, laugh, show emotion, care and get excited for marvel. I can’t wait to see what this next year brings for you and hopefully, I can help guide you through it.’

Holly then ‘liked’ the Instagram post

His son George was just two years old at the time. Announcing the news via social media, Adam wrote: ‘Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time.’

Eirianedd took to her own social media to announce the split, predicting she would face an ‘incredibly difficult’ future.

Their split was in part put down to the doomed ‘Strictly curse’ after Adam raised eyebrows with his on screen chemistry with pro-partner Katya Jones on the dance floor. Yet the pair now appear on good terms with each other.

For the last two years, Holly and Adam have been dating and announced their engagement on social media on Thursday.

Holly showed off her dazzling yellow diamond engagement ring in snaps from their holiday in Mallorca.

Influencer Holly was the first to share the news as she posted a series of sweet snaps together and wrote: ‘I am marrying my best friend. I truly cannot put into words how I am feeling right now. I still remeber [sic] how big my smile was the morning I got home from my first date with you.

‘Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you & I cannot wait to be your wife.’

She went on to reference Adam’s son George, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Eirianedd Munro.

Holly continued: ‘I promise to always be there with you and George, I’m so greatful [sic] to be in his life and I cannot wait for more.

‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13’.

Adam also shared a gushing post announcing the news, which comes after he made a decision to take a break from swimming.

In his heartfelt post, he praised his fiancée for sticking with him through his ‘lowest times’, following his highly-publicised battle with alcoholism and mental health.

He penned: ‘I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I’m truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side. You fill my heart to the brim and give my soul peace.

‘You have been with me when I’ve been at my lowest and helped me understand myself to navigate my own darkness.

‘You have also celebrated the highs which have been so many, as for the first time in my life, I’m happy with the man I’ve become. You came to church with me and joined the incredible community we have there without a question.’

Adam continued: ‘Your family have always treated me so generously with their time, emotion and trust. I can’t wait to be joined with them too.

‘I’ve always believed that when two people are engaged and later married that we are no longer two people but we join as one and it’s the biggest privilege to share that with you.

Adam also shared a gushing post as he praised Holly for helping him through dark times

Holly’s father Gordon shared a sweet congratulatory message

‘Seeing you show the love you give to the most important person in my life, George, even from day one, there was never a question about you becoming my wife one day. I’m looking forward to our life together and the many challenges we’ll face.

‘I promise to always love you with all my heart.

‘Matthew 19:6 ‘So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.’

The couple were immediately flooded with congratulatory messages, with Holly’s famous father Gordon Ramsay penning: ‘Congratulations to you both ! We’re over the moon and enjoy this moment ! Welcome to the family❤️’
