A woman has been found dead at a unit in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra.
Emergency services were called to an address in Astoria Circuit shortly before midday on Monday, following reports a body was found.
‘The woman is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 60s,’ a police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
A man, 50, was taken to Maroubra Police Station, where he’s assisting police with inquiries. No charges have yet been laid.
Detective have established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the woman’s death.
Large numbers of police and forensic officers swarmed the unit on Monday afternoon.
Police officers scoured the surrounding area, including bins for any possible clues or evidence.

A 50-year-old man has been taken to Maroubra police station, where he’s assisting police with inquiries.
The forensic officers wore blue overalls and white face masks so as not to contaminate any evidence found at the scene.
They were seen putting items into brown evidence bags.
A police dog unit was also at the scene as detectives doorknocked neighbouring homes to speak to residents.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
