Glamorous real estate agent sparks debate over ‘narcissistic’ act: ‘Did I buy a house or a human?’

A glamorous real estate agent has divided Aussies over a decision to feature her personal headshot on a sold sign instead of a photo of the property.

The agent made sure she was centre-stage with just her name and mobile number accompanying the large photo on the billboard in Sydney

The photo sparked debate after it was shared on Reddit this week with one user questioning ‘Did I buy a house or a human?’

‘The narcissism is strong in this one,’ a second wrote.

‘I know of no other industry that names the person involved as the dominant feature in marketing,’ a second commented.

‘If any real estate agent made their marketing along the lines of, “we sell your house, not our names”, I’d sign with them. Can’t believe no one’s trying it.’

‘I work in an architectural office and we always joke that we should make a sign for the front of any/all of our construction sites that is just a shot of the four of us with something like, “another one designed!” underneath… because that’s how real estate agents do it and they make more than us,’ a fourth shared.

However, others leapt to defend the savvy real estate agent.

A glamorous real estate agent has sent tongues wagging after she decided to use her personal headshot on a large sold sign instead of a photo of the property (pictured)

‘The signs aren’t for buyers, they’re for sellers. See an agent’s face on hundreds of signs saying they sold for record prices and if you decide to sell, you unconsciously go, “hey that agent sells lots of places around here”,’ one wrote.

‘They are advertising to other sellers, not buyers,’ a second agreed.

‘If you are going to sell a house, and every house around you had been sold with a person’s face on it, they assume you will think that they are good as selling houses and would be a good choice for your house, rather than trusting someone with a track record you don’t know.’

A third said you essentially ‘buy a human’ when you’re looking to sell a property.

‘Real estate agents make profit from marketing to sellers and signing as many exclusive contracts as possible. The house selling is the easy bit,’ they said.

The agent declined to comment on whether it was a personal choice or company policy to include a headshot on sold signs when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
