Lidia Thorpe accuses Pauline Hanson of using a shocking slur against her

Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe has accused One Nation leader Pauline Hanson of calling her a ‘b****’ during a Senate debate.

On Monday morning, Thorpe raised a point of order.

‘I just got called a b**** by a racist,’ she said, referring to Hanson.

Hanson left the chamber soon after, criticising Thorpe as she exited.

‘I will be glad to see the back end of you in this place in two years’ time,’ Hanson said.

The incident occurred during a debate on Israel and the United States’ recent strike against Iran, which resulted in the death of Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The Senate was debating an Opposition motion welcoming Khamenei’s death and condemning the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The clash between Hanson and Thorpe came after Hanson criticised the Greens for refusing to support the motion, accusing them of being the most un-Australian people in the Senate.

‘The most un-Australian people who do not fight for this country… our flag… nothing,’ Hanson said during her speech.

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young and Lidia Thorpe heckled Hanson during the address.

‘What have you ever done for the Iranian refugees in this country?’ Hanson-Young told Hanson.

‘You’re the one who hates Australia.’

Thorpe then mocked Hanson after she mistakenly referred to US President Donald Trump as ‘Senator Trump’ in her speech.

‘Trump isn’t a Senator… what planet are you on?’ Thorpe said.
