A teenage boy has been arrested after his mother’s body was found dumped in a trash can outside their family’s Oklahoma home.
Logan County sheriff’s deputies were called to a beautiful house in Edmond, near Oklahoma City, after a fight broke out between two teens Wednesday afternoon.
Initial reports indicated a weapon was involved, Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes told the Daily Mail.
Officers broke up the fight and detained the pair, ages 16 and 17. They are believed to be siblings.
During the preliminary investigation, one teen told officers the other killed his mother and placed her body outside in the poly cart bin used for trash collection, Dykes said.
Sheriff’s deputies carried out a search of the home and found the mother’s body with injuries that were ‘suspicious in nature’ and ‘consistent with homicide.’
The suspected killer was arrested at the scene and transported to a juvenile detention center. Charges have not yet been filed against the teen.
The woman’s remains have been transported to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause and manner of her death.

The killing has shocked the small Cascata Falls neighborhood where locals claim violence in not a common occurrence.
‘It is tragic because it involves our youth,’ one neighbor told KFOR. ‘This is a great neighborhood. Kids are always running around, riding their bikes down the street, and golf carts down the street.’
Officials say the investigation into the woman’s death remains ongoing and no other suspects remain at large.
Dykes noted the investigation is still in the early stages and information about the case and suspects is subject to change.
Police have withheld the victim’s name pending family notification.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) did confirm the woman owned the home in the 9000 block of Treviso Trail where she was killed.
OSBI spokesman Hunter McKee has vowed to ‘try to find justice for this case’.
