Police search inside septic tank at Nancy Guthrie’s home as hunt rolls into day eight: Live updates

Updated:

The search for Savannah Guthrie‘s mother Nancy has entered its eighth day – with investigators seen probing a septic tank at the 84-year-old woman’s home.

On Sunday, Fox News shared footage from the property in Tucson, Arizona, showing law enforcement officials using a pole to check inside a manhole behind the house.

An official vehicle has also been spotted outside the residence.

This comes after KGUN 9 reported that a ransom note threatens Nancy’s life if her loved ones do not hand over $6 million in Bitcoin by Monday at 5 pm local time.

The outlet was reportedly among many that received the disturbing letter.

Nancy was last seen on January 31 and was reported missing on the morning of February 1 after members of her church told her family that she did not attend a service that morning.

Police believe that Nancy is alive, as Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters on Friday night: ‘What I believe is that Nancy was removed from her home against her will, and that we need to find her. That’s what I believe. She’s still alive.’

Investigators returned to the residence on Sunday morning to continue their efforts in locating the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie.

Police were seen searching the wooded area around the property, although it is unclear what they were looking for or what they found.

Cops announced this week that they would not be holding any further press conferences until there were updates to be searched.

Gayle King still hoping for a ‘good outcome’ in Nancy Guthrie abduction case as clock runs down to find her

Gayle King has shared how ‘heartsick’ she is over the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie.

The clock is running down to find Nancy as the search enters its seventh day, with the 84-year-old reportedly deprived of the medication she needs to survive.

Now King, 71, who is Savannah’s fellow daytime star as a host of CBS Mornings, has offered her view of the ‘very, very scary’ crisis.

No suspects identified 7 days into Nancy Guthrie investigation

The Pima County Sheriff’s office provided an update on Nancy Guthrie’s investigation on Sunday afternoon, confirming that authorities had no suspects in the case.

‘No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified,’ the department wrote.

Investigation faces fresh flood of fury after police admit they still don’t have any leads

Frustration is mounting about the investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance after the Pima County Sheriff’s Office admitted they still had no idea who kidnapped her.

‘The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing,’ the office wrote on X.

‘Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. No scheduled press briefings.

‘If any significant developments occur in the case, a press conference will be called.’

‘This “investigation” is a joke,’ one X user wrote in response to the statement. ‘If we can’t solve a crime like this within days why have any hope in LE (law enforcement)’.

Another person described the statement as ‘lots of words for “we know absolutely nothing”‘, while a third quipped: ‘You really know how to instill confidence’.

Evidence in Nancy Guthrie septic tank: REAL reason cops searched manhole at her home… and truth about mystery silver briefcase at daughter Annie’s house

As the hunt for missing Nancy Guthrie approaches its second week, investigators were seen searching a septic tank at her home in Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday.

Footage captured law enforcement using a pole to check inside a manhole behind Nancy’s $1million house, amid mounting fears that time is running out to find the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie alive and well.

Former SWAT team captain Josh Schirard told the Daily Mail: ‘A lot of people forget that having a septic tank means waste water doesn’t go into a city sewer, it goes into the tank.

‘So, somebody may have flushed something thinking that would get rid of it, but instead it would actually just be deposited in the septic tank. It is a possibility that [investigators] are now trying to make sure that there’s nothing in there that could indicate any kind of guilt.’

FBI helped Savannah Guthrie and siblings craft recent statement pleading for their mother’s return, expert says

A former FBI deputy director said that he has no doubt that the federal agency helped Savannah Guthrie and her siblings write their most recent statement to their mother Nancy’s alleged kidnappers.

CNN Senior Law Enforcement Analyst Andrew McCabe spoke with Dana Bash on Sunday about the message the siblings shared on Instagram the night before.

‘There is no question in my mind that every word of that statement was carefully honed with the assistance of the FBI experts who are advising the family,’ he said.

In the video, Savannah, Annie and Camron told whoever is behind their mother’s kidnapping: ‘We will pay.’

Security will remain posted at Nancy Guthrie’s to prevent trespassing, according to law enforcement

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said its officers will continue to guard Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona.

The office said in a statement that her family has requested persistent security, according to CNN.

‘No trespassing is allowed on Nancy Guthrie’s property,’ the statement reads. ‘Violations will be subject to enforcement.’

This notice comes after Pima County investigators were seen searching outside the residence earlier in the day on Sunday.

Nancy Guthrie’s pastor prays for those behind her disappearance

Nancy Guthrie’s pastor prayed for the hearts of the culprits allegedly holding Nancy Guthrie for ransom.

During a Sunday service at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona, Pastor John Tittle addressed the people who investigators say kidnapped Nancy from her home last week.

‘We are seeking to just honor the family’s privacy and their desires,’ he told the congregation, per TMZ.

‘It was communicated to me, “pray.” We’re going to keep praying through this horrific ordeal.

While sending prayers to the elderly victim, he also urged church members to pray for the hearts of ‘those who are responsible’ so that they may become inclined to do what is ‘humane and right.’

Ransom deadline has added urgency to search for Nancy Guthrie, former SWAT captain says

A former SWAT captain has speculated that investigators are amplifying their efforts to find Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy as the deadline set by an apparent ransom note nears.

Josh Schirard told CNN that the letter from the 84-year-old’s alleged kidnappers demanding $6 million by Monday at 5 pm local time has likely pushed investigators to ramp up their search.

‘If this is real, they’re on the clock, and that clock is ticking short, so anything that they can do has to be done and has to be done now,’ he told the outlet.

Nancy’s home has been an active scene for detectives on Sunday. They have spent hours searching the area surrounding the $1 million residence.

Authorities have reportedly checked inside a septic tank and probed the wooded area behind the home.

Savannah Guthrie should not pay her missing mother’s $6 million ransom yet, an FBI expert claims

A former FBI special agent said Savannah Guthrie’s family should give in to the culprits allegedly behind their mother’s kidnapping just yet.

As concerns grow about the 84-year-old woman’s health, Michael Harrigan told The New York Post that her loved ones should wait before sendingthe reportedly demanded $6 million.

‘Proof of life is everything. They need to have a dialogue, and the family’s looking for a dialogue with these kidnappers,’ he told the outlet.

‘But if there’s no two-way here, no good comes of sending the money.’
