The investigation into the death of a one-year-old boy has been taken over by homicide detectives.
Victoria Police on Monday confirmed it is handing the death of the young boy in Sebastopol, south Ballarat in regional Victoria, to the Homicide Squad.
Police were told the baby became unresponsive about 12pm on Tuesday, November 4, and was rushed to hospital by his mother, 26, and her partner, 18.
The one-year-old was treated at a hospital in Melbourne but sadly died two days later on Thursday, November 6.
‘The exact circumstances leading up to the child’s death are still being determined,’ Victoria Police said in a statement.
‘Detectives from the Homicide Squad and the Ballarat Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Investigation Team have spoken with the boy’s mother and her male partner.’
