A car drove into a group of people in Berlin this afternoon, injuring several including children, German newspaper Bild reported.

The incident occurred around 1:10pm local time at the corner of Dohnagestell and Seestraße, a large road in Berlin-Wedding to the northwest of the city centre.

Some children were lightly injured and an accompanying adult was severely injured, a spokesperson for the Berlin fire brigade said.

Bild reported that a BMW had crashed into a group of children, aged between seven and eight years old, while turning.

The outlet said three of the 15 children at the scene were injured and taken to Virchow Hospital nearby.

Multiple emergency vehicles, including at least three ambulances, were pictured at the scene in photographs circulating in German media.
