One of the teenagers behind Baltimore’s worst-ever mass shooting has been sentenced to ten years in jail.
Tristan Jackson was involved in the ‘Brooklyn Day’ bloodbath which killed two and injured 28 others during a block party in the Brooklyn Homes area of the city in 2023.
He pleaded guilty to four charges last month including including second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, and a minor in possession of a firearm, Fox Baltimore reports.
He was sentenced to 45 years in jail, with all but ten years suspended as part of a plea deal. Jackson will be eligible for parole after serving five years.
The state had sought a 50-year sentence suspended to 12 years.
Aaliyah Gonzalez, 18, and Kylis Fagbemi, 20, were killed when gunfire erupted at the party on July 2, 2023.
Dozens more people were injured, including 15 minors some of whom were as young as 13.

The mass shooting also left 28 people injured, with victims as young as 13 according to police
Jackson is among a group of five juveniles who were charged in connection with the mass shooting. None of the suspects are facing murder charges.
Aaron Brown, 20, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for his involvement in the shooting, as well as attempted first-degree murder and firearm use related to a separate incident.
He was sentenced to 60 years in jail with all but 12 suspended. Three other juveniles also pleaded guilty and were offered plea deals last May.
Hundreds of people had gathered in the area for an event called ‘Brooklyn Day’.
Dramatic footage showed the moment revelers fled the block party in the Maryland city during the early hours of the morning.
Surveillance footage given to CBS by Baltimore Police Department featured dozens of people sprinting through the streets after shots were fired at 800 Gretna Court in the Brooklyn Homes neighborhood around 12.30am.
Investigators said 14 teenage girls were also injured in the incident – one 13-year-old, one 14-year-old, two girls aged 15, three aged 16, two aged 17, two 18, and three 19.
The force added that nine teenage boys suffered injuries – one 13-year-old, one 15-year-old, two aged 16, two 17, and three 18.
Five juveniles were charged in connection with the shooting, although none faced murder charges
Three women – aged 20, 23, and 32 – and two men – aged 22 and 31 – were also hurt in the shooting.
The gunmen fled the scene immediately after the shooting and an $8,000 reward was offered for information on their whereabouts.
A huge report released following the tragedy found that despite individual acts of heroism by police, the department had responded too late to warnings the event was getting out of hand.
Police knew about the block party days before it unfolded and saw it setting up but did not provide any extra patrols, the report found.
A fundraiser set up by Gonzalez’s loved ones paid tribute to the ‘sweet’ teenager.
‘Aaliyah was a recent high school graduate set to attend college this fall,’ the fundraiser reads.
‘She was a beautiful sweet young girl, with out of this world artistic abilities and a kind gentle spirit ready to set the world on fire.’
