Trump makes stunning admission about abortion and women voters: There’s an ‘issue’

Donald Trump on Friday dismissed polls showing him faring badly with women voters, calling them ‘nonsense’ and declaring that ‘women love me’ – except, he said, for one thing.

On a live appearance on ‘Fox & Friends’, Trump was asked about polls showing him losing by double digits among women voters to Kamala Harris.

‘I think I do very well with women, and I think it’s all nonsense. I see the polls, and we do well,’ the former president said. ‘You have one issue, you have the issue of abortion.

‘Without abortion, the women love me,’ Trump insisted.

The Democrat Harris has made the issue of abortion a central plank of her campaign.

Abortion has been a leading issue with women voters since the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022 overturned Roe v. Wade. Trump appointed three of the justices who made the landmark reversal decision.

Former President Donald Trump claimed it’s ‘all nonsense’ that he is not doing well with women and said ‘without abortion, the women love me’ during an appearance on Fox & Friends Friday

But on the Fox News morning show, Trump claimed women ‘like me anyway’ because what he has done is ‘so good.’

Trump said the issue has torn the country apart for more than 50 years and that no one wanted it determined by the federal government rather than individual states, as it was in the previous landmark abnortion decision, Roe v. Wade.

‘I’ve taken this issue out of the federal government and put it back to the states where they’re voting,’ the Republican presidential nominee added.

He repeated that he believes in abortion exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother. But not all states that have banned abortion since Roe v. Wade was overturned have such exceptions.

Trump praised the ‘very brave judges’ who overturned the law and said the country is now ‘getting to vote’ on the issue.

The former president during an appearance on Fox & Friends in New York City on October 18. During the interview, host Brian Kilmeade (far right) tried to press him on where he stands with women voters and having Nikki Haley on the campaign trail

A new Emerson College poll out Friday showed Harris is leading Trump nationally by one point, 49 percent to 48 percent.

But when it comes to women voters there is a huge gender gap. Harris leads by double digits – 55 percent to 41 percent.

The poll also found abortion remains one of the top issues for women.

Speaking about abortion rights has been one of Harris’ strongest lines of attack against Trump on the campaign trail.

In Wisconsin on Thursday, Harris, who nevertheless has been slipping in the polls, slammed the ex-president, declaring ‘No Donald, everybody did not want Roe v. Wade to be overturned.’

As Trump struggles with women voters Republican strategists have urged him to get help from those who could give him a boost with the key voting bloc.

Fox host Brian Kilmeade asked Trump about his former GOP presidential opponent Nikki Haley coming out on the campaign trail for him in the final stretch. Kilmeade suggested it could help shore up some Republican voters.

‘In the last 18 days, will you call her and say “come out with me?”‘ Kilmeade asked.

Trump said he would do what he has to do.

Haley, Trump’s former ambassador to the United Nations, stood against him in the Republican presidential primary, but publicly endorsed him after exiting the race.

Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley speaking at the Republican National Convention in July. Haley endorsed Trump for president, but when asked about bringing her in to campaign for him on Fox & Friends, Trump went off about how badly he beat her in the primary and appeared annoyed people keep bringing her up

‘Nikki Haley and I fought, and I beat her by 50, 60, 90 points,’ Trump said.  ‘I beat her in her own state by numbers that nobody’s ever been beaten by.’

He insisted ‘Nikki is in’ and that she is helping ‘already.’

While Haley endorsed Trump and spoke at the convention in July, she has not held any specific campaign events for him, though there are reports she is in talks with the campaign.

Harris has also been campaigning for the votes of Republicans who backed Haley and may not be sold on another Trump term in office.
