Several domestic flights in and out of Sydney Airport have been cancelled as passengers complain of major delays.
Flights were disrupted amid wild weather on Friday afternoon and evening, with more than 20 outbound flights cancelled as a storm hit.
Seventeen flights due to land at Sydney Airport from around the country from 6pm onwards were also cancelled.
One passenger flying to Sydney from Melbourne claimed they were stranded on the tarmac at Melbourne Airport for four hours.
‘Madness at Sydney airport – multiple flights cancelled. A good thousand or so people milling around,’ another wrote on X.

One passenger wrote on social media that many travellers were left standing around at the airport
That passenger shared a photo of dozens of travellers standing outside the airport with their luggage.
Flights from Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Qantas were all disrupted.
A handful of inbound and outbound flights were also cancelled earlier on Friday morning but the majority of the disruptions happened later in the day.
One international flight due to arrive from Los Angeles was also cancelled.
