Milwaukee radio host Jay Weber issues groveling apology after abhorrent tweet about Tim Walz’s son Gus

A conservative radio host has issued a groveling apology after posting a vile tweet about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s disabled son, Gus.

Jay Weber, a talk show host on WISN-Milwaukee, was slammed online after he called 17-year-old Gus Walz a ‘blubbering b**** boy’ for his emotional reaction to his father’s speech at the Democratic National Convention.

In a now-deleted tweet, Weber wrote: ‘Sorry, but this is embarrassing for both father and son. If the Walzs represent today’s American man, this country is screwed; ‘Meet my son, Gus. He’s a blubbering b**** boy. His mother and I are very proud.’

The comment came after Gus, who is neurodivergent, has ADHD, an anxiety disorder, and a non-verbal learning disorder, was seen tearfully exclaiming, ‘That’s my dad,’ during Governor Walz’s speech.

His emotional support of his father had many quick to call it ‘cringe-worthy’ before realizing the extent of his disabilities.

Weber quickly backtracked, after learning of the teen’s disorders.

‘I didn’t realize the kid was disabled, and have taken the post down,’ he wrote in a follow-up tweet.

In a longer apology posted Friday morning on X, Weber wrote: ‘This is a fuller apology for something stupid and hurtful I said yesterday. I said it without thinking or having the facts. No excuses. Having been a teacher, I’ve had a standard of never involving children, I broke that and I’m disappointed with myself.’

‘I apologize to the Walz family and anyone who was offended. I feel horrible, I am so sorry,’ he added.

But users were quick to reject his apology and questioned the sincerity of his response.

‘I didn’t realize the kid was disabled, and have taken the post down,’ he wrote in a follow-up tweet

One commented, ‘Apologies are only meaningful when they come with changed behavior. Your timeline today is full of misogyny and hate. That tweet is who you are.’

Another wrote, ‘You feel horrible because your job is now on the line. You’re a sick person with zero decency.’

‘You’re only sorry that you got called out. The type of vile behavior and vitriol you displayed don’t go away overnight. You showed your true colors for the world to see, and boy is it ugly. Thankfully most of Milwaukee doesn’t agree with you. Hope your replacement is better,’ a third furious user commented.

Weber was absent from his Milwaukee morning show Friday, just one day after he sparked outrage over his remarks.

His regular morning slot on 1130 WISN was filled by Benjamin Yount on Friday.

Yount claimed Weber’s absence was pre-planned, seemingly downplaying the  situation. He said the schedule would go back to normal come Sunday.

‘This was scheduled ahead of time. Can’t expect the pros – this is load management – to work a full five-day week,’ Yount said at the top of the show. ‘So, Jay will be back on Monday.’

1130 WISN has yet to issue a public response, however, Weber’s absence comes immediately after his offensive remarks sparked calls for termination and disciplinary action against the host.

Some even called for the boycott of iHeartMedia Milwaukee, the platform which hosts Weber’s show.

‘I’ve never been a fan of boycotts, but advertisers and listeners should deservedly punish iHeartMedia Milwaukee for the incredibly ignorant and insensitive comment made by one of their star talent. Jay Weber’s X post about Gus Walz is utterly indefensible,’ Republican Craig Peterson wrote on Facebook in a since-deleted post.

Weber wasn’t the only one to call out the teen’s ‘cringe-worthy’ display.

Ann Coulter shared an image of Gus overcome with emotion, captioning it ‘Talk about weird.’

Ann Coulter’s now deleted X post about Tim Walz’ son Gus

But Coulter was quickly informed about Gus’ disorders and has since deleted the post.

‘I took it down as soon as someone told me he’s [autistic], but it’s Democrats who go around calling everyone weird thinking it’s hilariously funny,’ Coulter said of her deleted tweet, before adding that she was on vacation.

‘I’m sure someone having human emotions would be weird for you,’ read one online critique.

‘If you’re attacking or making fun of Tim Walz’ neurodivergent son for his reaction and love for his father, you are a terrible human being,’ stated another.
