An Aussie tradie has tragically died in a horror motorbike accident just a day before he was due to return to Australia for work.

Jayme Altieri, 41, from Western Australia, died after suffering catastrophic head trauma on his way back from dinner in Bohol, a province in the Philippines, on August 18.

It’s understood he was wearing a helmet at the time.

His brother Scott told 7news.com.au that the tragedy was a massive shock and huge loss to the family.

Mr Altieri, a FIFO rope access boilermaker born in Rockingham, is one of seven siblings.

He has been remembered as having a ‘cheeky smile, (drinking) lots of tequila and having a good time’.

Mr Altieri spent his life travelling through North America, Europe and Asia. He was also a thrillseeker who had gone skydiving hundreds of times.

‘Whenever he had an idea in his head, you couldn’t stop him,’ his brother recalled.

Mr Altieri’s parents have flown to the Philippines to collect his remains.

A fundraiser has been launched to help Mr Altieri’s family following the death.

‘Hey guys, sadly we have lost a friend to a tragic motorbike accident in the Philippines,’ the GoFundMe page said.

‘Let’s pass the hat around to help Jayme’s family in this tough time.’

A wake will be held at the Rockingham Naval Association on September 8.

Mr Altieri’s brother has set up a Facebook page for people to share photos to remember his brother.

‘This is a place for everyone to drop pictures, message or a story about Jayme,’ he wrote.

‘Nothing’s off limits as we all know he wasn’t. I’ll go through them all and set it up so we can show them at his last big p*** up.’

Mr Altieri’s death also sparked an outpouring of tributes from mates.

‘Friends who had the privilege of knowing Jayme Altieri are still in shock of learning of his early demise. We will miss you, bro. Rest in peace,’ one wrote.

Another said he would be missed by many people.

‘Jayme was, like myself, very outgoing, and took every day like it was his last. Rest in piece, brother. You will be sadly missed by so many of us,’ he wrote.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian man who died in the Philippines.

‘We send our deepest condolences to his family at this difficult time,’ the department said in a statement.
